JAKARTA - Opera successfully created the fastest JavaScript engine and the most portable in the world. Even on the SunSpider Benchmark, 2.5 times the speed compared to the ECMAScript engine 2.2 Presto (Opera 10 Alpha).
"Carakan, the script comes from the original Java language, known as Hanacaraka, Opera is an answer from the growing demand for Web applications and Web Surfers," said Country Manager Opera Indonesia Putri Annisa N to okezone, Thursday (12/2/2009).
According to Annisa, Carakan is 2.5 times faster than Furthark, Opera's Javascript engine that is used at this time. Although still in development, but in a few experiments showed that Carakan 50 times faster.
"This is a big step for the Web application developers which will allow them to create the next generation of applications that only require a connection Internet connection," said Annisa.
Machines were developed to minimize the code footprint and memory usage, rather than maximizing execution speed by using the maximum set of bytecode instructions. (srn)
